Today marks the ninth "National Science and Technology Workers' Day". On the eve of this, on May 24th, the 2025 Textile Green, Low-Carbon and Sustainable Development Conference kicked off in Qingdao, Shandong Province. At the opening ceremony, Fu Guangwei, the president of the China Textile Engineering Society, Li Ronggui, the vice president of Qingdao University, and Wang Hui, the vice chairman of the Qingdao Association for Science and Technology, delivered speeches, jointly emphasizing that the green, low-carbon and sustainable development of the textile industry is the mission bestowed upon textile workers by The Times and also the inevitable path for the textile industry to achieve high-quality development. At the meeting, Fu Guangwei presented certificates to the six selected individuals of the 10th "Youth Talent Support Program" of the China Association for Science and Technology, namely Liu Chunyu, Li Chang, Gao Lu, Liang Yueyao, Jiang Yalong and Gong Wei, who were supported by the China Textile Engineering Society. He encouraged them to carry forward the spirit of scientists, take the lead in achieving high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in textile science and technology, and contribute their youthful strength to the construction of a textile power.

This conference is hosted by the China Textile Engineering Society, co-organized by Qingdao University, Qingdao Marine Science and Technology Museum, and the Editorial Board of Textile Journal, and has received strong support from Chongqing 3533 Printing and Dyeing Garment General Factory Co., LTD., Guangxi University of Science and Technology, the Supercritical Fluid Research Committee of Japan, and Penglai Jiaxin Dye & Chemical Co., LTD. The conference attracted renowned scholars, industry experts, enterprise representatives and young talents from home and abroad. They jointly focused on the key directions of the green and low-carbon transformation of the textile industry and discussed the latest research achievements and development trends in cutting-edge fields such as green manufacturing technology, low-carbon production processes and sustainable resource utilization.

Academician Xu Weilin from Wuhan Textile University, Professor MAO Zhiping from Donghua University, Professor Fang Kuanjun from Qingdao University, and Professor Liu Chuanlan from the University of Louisiana respectively delivered wonderful keynote speeches at the conference. Xu Weilin's online report centered on "The Role of Technological Power in the Construction of Textile and Garment Brands", and elaborated from three dimensions: innovation in fiber materials, innovation in spinning technology, and post-treatment and standard testing of fabrics. It pointed out that technological innovation is a key element in enhancing the core competitiveness of brands. Combined with typical cases at home and abroad, this paper analyzes the paths for technological innovation to enhance brand value, emphasizing that Chinese manufacturing enterprises need to deepen the collaborative innovation among industry, academia and research, transform the achievements of scientific and technological research and development into brand differentiation advantages, and inject new impetus into enhancing the international influence of China's textile and garment industry. MAO Zhiping shared the three key issues his team has addressed in ScCO2 fluid dyeing regarding the supercritical CO2 waterless dyeing technology for polyester fiber boxed yarns: Research achievements have been made in aspects such as the regulation methods of dye dissolution behavior, high-efficiency dyeing processes, and complete sets of dyeing equipment. The product quality and energy conservation and emission reduction effects of its engineering production are also introduced, solving the problems of fresh water resource consumption and wastewater discharge in the printing and dyeing industry from the source. Fang Kuanjun introduced the developed reactive dye salt-free continuous pad dyeing and wet high-speed inkjet printing technologies. Through the research on the molecular action mechanism in the dyeing and finishing process, new ideas were pointed out for the development of original printing and dyeing technologies. Liu Chuanlan, in response to the current green challenges faced by the textile industry, expounded on the promoting role of digital technology in the sustainable development of the fashion industry through academic research and practical cases, and called on China's textile industry to seize the opportunity and lead the global sustainable fashion transformation.
