In recent years, Xinjiang's textile and garment industry has developed rapidly, the industrial scale has expanded rapidly, the technical level has been continuously improved, and the employment driving effect has been significantly enhanced. However, while achieving these new results, the supply capacity of polyester staple fiber has failed to meet the needs of downstream weaving and other links, which has become the core link and key element that restricts the further extension and expansion of the local textile and garment industry chain. After the polyester staple fiber project is put into operation, it is expected to further meet the market demand for diversified functional fibers and expand the surrounding market.

According to Hou Yu, general manager of Xinjiang Dongchunxing Textile Co., LTD., polyester staple fiber is one of the key raw materials of the spinning and weaving industry, which was not produced in the local market in Xinjiang before and needed to be purchased from other provinces and regions, long-distance transportation increased the production cost and the product was not competitive. After the project was put into operation, it made up a short board of the industry and enabled enterprises to flexibly adjust the product structure.

In addition to the 250,000 tons polyester staple fiber project in China and Thailand, the 300,000 tons polyester chemical fiber project of the First Division of the XPCC in Alar City has also been completed and put into operation by the end of 2022.

On February 28, 2022, Xinxiang Chemical Fiber held a board of directors meeting to consider and pass the "Proposal for the implementation of the first phase of the" Annual output of 30,000 tons of biomass cellulose fiber Project "of Xinjiang Tianlu New Material Technology Co., LTD., a wholly-owned subsidiary. The construction site of the project is located in Dashan Mountain Industrial Park, Tumushuk City, Xinjiang, with an investment of about 395 million yuan. According to the actual situation, the company will adopt various ways, including bank loans, to raise funds for the project. The project is scheduled to start construction in the first quarter of 2024 and the construction period is 12 months. The product plan of the project is biomass cellulose filament, with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons.

Data show that from 2014 to 2022, Xinjiang's textile and garment industry fixed asset investment accumulated 285.9 billion yuan, an average annual growth of 20%.
