PP staple fibers, also known as polypropylene short fibers, are made from polypropylene raw materials through processes such as melt spinning, drawing, and cutting. Their specification system is closely related to application scenarios and plays an important role in multiple fields.
Fiber fineness and length are the core specification indicators of PP staple fibers. The fineness is usually between 1.5D and 200D, and the length covers the range of 5mm to 150mm. Among them, 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, etc. are commonly used specifications in the construction field, while the length of textile fibers is mostly concentrated between 38mm and 110mm. The fiber diameter is generally between 18μm and 48μm. Bundled monofilaments are the mainstream type, and some products can achieve uniform dispersion through special processing techniques.
Physical performance parameters are also an important component of the specification system. Its density is approximately 0.91g/cm, its melting point remains around 160℃, and its flash point can reach 580℃. After being tested at a low temperature of -78 ℃, there is no significant change in its performance. In terms of mechanical properties, the tensile strength is no less than 358MPa, the Young's modulus exceeds 3.5GPa, and the elongation at break is approximately 30%, combining both strength and toughness. In addition, the product has a moisture content of less than 0.1%, strong acid and alkali resistance, extremely low thermal conductivity, and has undergone anti-aging treatment to enhance durability.
Specification differences determine application directions: Fine denier fibers, due to their excellent carding and spinning properties, are suitable for textile fabrics and filling materials, and can be made into lightweight and warm fabrics. Short-cut fibers, due to their crack resistance, are widely used in building materials such as concrete and mortar, with a dosage typically ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 kilograms per cubic meter. Meanwhile, the product supports color customization, covering multiple color series such as sky blue, bright red, and black, to meet the needs of different scenarios.
