Polyester can be divided into two categories: polyester staple fiber and polyester long fiber, mainly including short fiber, drawn yarn, textured yarn, decorative filament, industrial filament and various differentiated fibers.

The characteristics of polyester staple fiber:

      1. High strength: The strength of polyester fiber is nearly 1 times higher than that of cotton and 3 times higher than that of wool. Due to its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength is basically the same as its dry strength. The impact strength is 4 times higher than that of nylon and 20 times higher than that of viscose fiber.

      2. Good elasticity: the elasticity is close to that of wool, and it can be almost completely recovered when the elongation is 5%~6%. Polyester fabric has high strength and elastic recovery ability, so the fabric does not wrinkle, has good dimensional stability, and is strong and durable.

      3. Good heat resistance: Polyester is a thermoplastic fiber with a relatively high melting point and can be used at 70~170 °C, while the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity are small, so the heat resistance and thermal insulation of polyester staple fibers are the highest in synthetic staple fibers. OK.

      4. Good thermoplasticity and poor melting resistance: Due to the smooth surface of polyester and the close arrangement of internal molecules, polyester has the best heat resistance among synthetic fabrics. At the same time, the anti-melting resistance is poor, and the polyester fabric is easy to form holes when it encounters soot and sparks.

      5. Good abrasion resistance: The abrasion resistance of polyester staple fiber ranks second among synthetic fibers, second only to nylon with the best abrasion resistance.

      6. Corrosion resistance: It is resistant to bleaching agents, oxidants, hydrocarbons, ketones, petroleum products and inorganic acids, as well as strong acid and alkali resistance and UV resistance.

      7. Poor dyeability, but good color fastness, not easy to fade: because there is no specific dyeing group on the polyester molecular chain, and the polarity is small, it is difficult to dye, easy to dye, and the dye molecules are not easy to enter the fiber .

      8. Poor hygroscopicity and air permeability: Polyester fabrics are stuffy to wear, easy to carry static electricity and stained with dust, which affects the appearance and comfort, but they are easy to wash and dry without deformation.
